Es wurde im Jahr 1901 zu Ehren des ehemaligen Gro\u00dfherzogs Friedrich Franz II. errichtet.<br>Friedrich Franz II. regierte von 1842 bis 1883 und pr\u00e4gte ma\u00dfgeblich die Geschichte Mecklenburgs. Das Denkmal zeigt Friedrich Franz II. zu Pferd in voller Uniform.<br>Der Sockel des Denkmals ist aus Granit gefertigt und tr\u00e4gt die Inschrift &#8222;Friedrich Franz II. Gro\u00dfherzog von Mecklenburg-Schwerin&#8220;.<br>Das Denkmal ist ein bedeutendes Symbol f\u00fcr die Geschichte und Kultur der Stadt Schwerin.<br>Es wurde von dem Berliner Bildhauer Max Unger entworfen und von der Firma Gladenbeck &amp; Sohn in Bronze gegossen.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignleft size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.andreasspringer.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Schwerin_Denkmal-Friedrich-Franz3-673x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1006\" width=\"350\" height=\"533\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.andreasspringer.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Schwerin_Denkmal-Friedrich-Franz3-673x1024.jpg 673w, https:\/\/blog.andreasspringer.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Schwerin_Denkmal-Friedrich-Franz3-197x300.jpg 197w, https:\/\/blog.andreasspringer.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Schwerin_Denkmal-Friedrich-Franz3-768x1169.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blog.andreasspringer.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Schwerin_Denkmal-Friedrich-Franz3-1010x1536.jpg 1010w, https:\/\/blog.andreasspringer.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Schwerin_Denkmal-Friedrich-Franz3.jpg 1346w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 350px) 100vw, 350px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Das Denkmal wurde im Zweiten Weltkrieg schwer besch\u00e4digt und in den 1950er Jahren restauriert.<br>In unmittelbarer N\u00e4he des Denkmals befindet sich das Schweriner Schloss, das ehemalige Residenzschloss der Gro\u00dfherz\u00f6ge von Mecklenburg.<br>Friedrich Franz II war ein bedeutender F\u00fcrst im 19. Jahrhundert und setzte sich f\u00fcr die Modernisierung und Industrialisierung Mecklenburgs ein.<br>Er f\u00f6rderte auch die K\u00fcnste und Wissenschaften und war ein M\u00e4zen vieler K\u00fcnstler und Gelehrter.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Das Denkmal ist ein Ausdruck des Respekts und der Dankbarkeit der Schweriner B\u00fcrger gegen\u00fcber ihrem ehemaligen Landesvater und steht f\u00fcr die Verbundenheit der Stadt mit ihrer Geschichte und ihrer Tradition.<br>Das Denkmal wurde am 30. August 1901 eingeweiht.<br>Es war Teil eines umfangreichen Programms zur Feier des 60.
